Hon’ble President of South Asian University (SAU), Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, paid a courtesy call on Bhutan’s Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho, at his office in Thimphu on 8 October 2025.
During the meeting, discussions highlighted prospects for strengthening academic collaboration and educational cooperation between SAU and Bhutan. Professor Aggarwal shared the University’s mandate as a regional institution established by SAARC Member States to foster academic excellence and regional integration. He also briefed Hon’ble Lyonpo on SAU’s academic programs and ongoing institutional reforms to align with emerging regional priorities.
Hon’ble Lyonpo appreciated SAU’s contributions to regional human resource development and encouraged greater Bhutanese and regional faculty participation through enhanced engagement with the University’s Governing Board. He also conveyed his continued support for deepening collaborative initiatives.
